Tweetsie Trail Trailhead used to be a railway that traversed the former ET&WNC railroad between Johnson City and Elizabethton.
Locals endearingly call it “tweetsie” in reference to how the train’s steam whistle sounded when it was still operational.
The trail at Tweetsie Trail is 9.6 miles long. It’s an excellent place for walking, trail running, and biking.
You can take your dog with you at Tweetsie Trail Trailhead, but you have to put him on a leash.
Park authorities ask pet owners to make sure they clean up after their fur babies. After all, the park is for everyone, so everyone needs to do their part in keeping it clean.
You won’t get lost at the trail, too, because several markers will guide you.
There are benches, water fountains, and restrooms on-site. There’s even a bike repair station if you get a flat tire.
Parking is also available at the park. You can check out their website for the complete list of their park rules.
