Fido is allowed in all Virginia State Parks, like Leesylvania State Park, but he must be on a leash. You also must always keep a close watch on your dog.
Canines are not allowed in designated swim areas, and you must clean up after your pet.
Bring dog park essentials like poop bags, water, and your dog’s bowl. There are waste bins around the park where you can dispose of used bags.
Dogs are also welcome to stay overnight at Leesylvania State Park. There is no additional charge for pets in the cabin.
Visit the park’s website to learn more about local events and renting out park amenities.
Don’t miss a chance to explore the hiking trails on-site as well. There are five to choose from, all rich in natural and historical features of the Potomac River.
You also have a chance to see a segment of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail.
Fishing and boating are some of the other things you can do on-site. The Potomac River is home to largemouth bass and other sport fish like catfish, perch, and striped bass.
There’s a 300-foot accessible fishing pier on-site. Make sure you bring your fishing license when you visit. Overnight boating and pier fishing are allowed from March 1 to October 31.
