Swimming is an excellent form of exercise, especially for our furry friends. If you’re looking for a dog beach where you can let Fido swim and play, go to Prospect Park Dog Beach.
Dogs are allowed to play on the beach off-leash from 6 A.M. to 9 A.M., and from 9 P.M. to 1 A.M. You need to keep your dog on a leash if you want to visit the beach or Long Meadow outside these hours.
Anytime you visit, you need to make sure you clean up after your dog. Bring poop bags and dispose of used ones in the park’s designated waste bins. Pack your dog’s bowl and plenty of water as well.
Dogs are not allowed on the playground, bridle paths, ballfields, and other designated sports areas. However, they are very much welcome on the paths around the ballfields and at the Parade Ground, provided they’re wearing a leash.
Local events are always happening at Prospect Park, like birdwatching and FIDO Coffee Bark. Check out the park’s website to learn more about the ones you can join.
