Part of Battlefield Park includes the Civil War battlefield in Madison County.
You’ll find the 1824 Pleasant View home on-site, which once served as a hospital after the battle.
Visitors love this Richmond park because of its beautiful paved walking trails surrounded by trees and lush greens.
Most visitors come here to enjoy quiet family walks.
Pets are also welcome at Battlefield Park, but they have to be on a leash.
You also need to make sure you promptly pick up after your dog and throw away used bags in designated waste bins.
Before heading to the park, pack walking shoes for yourself and a bottle of water for your dog.
Having a picnic is also a popular activity at the park.
There’s a spacious picnic area where you can enjoy a snack.
You can also watch a civil war reenactment on-site in late August or an Indian pow wow in late September.
Visit the park’s website for information about local events.
