You’ll find plenty of beautiful dog-friendly trails at Skinner Butte Lookout, but you need to keep your fur baby on a leash.
Locals who have been to the park recommend starting at Cheshire Avenue. After that, you can check out the Columns climbing area on the park’s west side.
There’s a paved road leading to the summit, so you don’t have to hike up in case you can’t.
You’ll also find a trail starting on the north side, which you can hike in about 30 to 45 minutes.
The trails are open all year-round, and it’s best to visit in the early morning or late afternoon to catch the sunrise and sunset.
When you explore the rest of the park, you’ll find ball fields, a looped path, and a bike path. Don’t miss out on a chance to walk around Skinner City Farm community garden.
Skinner Butte Lookout also has an accessible play area, rock climbing facilities, and a recreation center.
Parking areas and restrooms are available on-site, too.
After exploring the tails, you can hang out at the park’s picnic tables.
Other park amenities include the RiverPlay Discovery Playground, Campbell Senior Center, and Lamb Cottage.
The park also has a water supply, so make sure you bring your dog’s bowl.
You can help keep the park clean by picking up after your pet and throwing away used poop bags in the waste receptacles around the park.
Check out the park’s website for more details about reserving park facilities.
